Spring Game 2011

The Cougars wrapped up two weeks of practice tonight. It appeared that the teams were divided between first string offense and first string defense (this is speculation on my part). The offense (white) came out with a quick march down the field. The offensive line looked particularly good on the opening drive, with a series of running plays ripping the defense right up the middle.

It didn’t take long for the defense (red) to settle down. It appeared that adjustments were made (and I would like to add that I am excited to see adjustments being made during the game) as the defense started closing the holes.

I have been excited to see fire on both sides of the ball this spring and can’t wait to see how the Cougars bring this fire into the 2011 season.

Day 3 – Full Pads!!!

The field had that familiar smell today. If you have ever played football, at any level, you know what I am talking about. The combination of freshly cut bermuda grass, moisture and heat. On this particular day, the cougars step on the field fully clad in their game day armor. The boys are ready to hit.

The scrimmage got off to a quick start with a spirited round of Oklahoma. The guys were ready for this. There was an excitement in the air, spring practice had truly begun. Soon the team split off into smaller groups for specific instruction. The main theme of the day seemed to be, “keep ‘em moving”.

At the end of the practice the team came together to run some live scrimmaging. Enjoy some of the photos from today.

Spring practice is off to a terrific start. We have 80+ players out this year!!!

Check back with us daily as we will be posting photos and interviews with the coaches regarding progress this spring. We are going to take a look at athletes to keep an eye on this spring and summer.
